As featured in the recent Journal of Commerce article in Breakbulk & Project Cargo titled A fresh start: Demand spike breathes new life into specialized reefer fleet, which focuses on how the demand for vessels has surged over the last two years thanks to ongoing capacity shortages and dismal low levels of reliability within the container shipping market, having the effect of driving up charter rates for these specialized breakbulk ships, Dynamar’s Frans Waals outlined how a handful of dominant carriers continue to charter in ships and, very rarely, invest in newbuildings. Beyond these dominant carriers, reefer ships tend to operate in China, Russia, or other regional markets. There is little insight into what they are doing, but [these ships] are not in the main markets.
