Last year’s fire on the Grimaldi-chartered 4,900 CEU “Hoegh Xiamen”, whilst docked at Jacksonville (DL 24/20), was caused by an improperly disconnected battery in a used vehicle. The fire eventually spread to other decks and continued to burn for eight days, leading to a constructive total loss of the vessel and the 2,420 cars it had onboard!
