APM Terminals and local Energy conglomerate ENNA will form a 51-49 joint
venture that will, for a period of fifty years, operate the new Rijeka Gateway
container terminal at the eponymous Croatian port. The first phase of the project
will comprise a quay line of 400 metres equipped with three Ship-to-Shore
gantries capable of handling ships of 24,000 TEU. During the second phase, the
quay line will be stretched to 680 metres and a fourth crane will be added, so
that capacity will rise to 1.05 million TEU. Outfitting the quay is expected to take
3.5 years.
